BC Election voting information for all Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw People

Election Day is Saturday, October 19

Electoral Districts

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Members vote in several electoral districts, depending on where you reside:

  • North Vancouver residents living on Ch ́ích ́elxwi7ḵw (Seymour) will vote in the North Vancouver Seymour Electoral District.
  • North and West Vancouver residents living on Xwmélch ́sten (Capilano) will vote in the North Vancouver Lonsdale Electoral District.
  • Squamish Valley residents are in the West Vancouver Sea to Sky Electoral District.

Members can cast their votes at the following locations from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on voting day:

  • Totem Hall
  • Eslha7an Learning Centre
  • Chief Joe Mathias Centre

Voters have an assigned voting place on Voting Day, but you can vote at any voting place you choose. Voting cards for Eslha7áń (Mission) residents were assigned to the Norgate Community Centre voting station, but voting at Eslha7an Learning Centre may be more convenient for you.

If you received a Where to Vote Card, bring it with you when you vote.

Voting Requirements

To vote, members must present one of the following forms of identification:

  • BC Driver’s License
  • BC ID Card
  • Certificate of Indian Status

Alternatively, voters can provide two other identification documents, one of which must show their residential address. For more details, refer to the “You Need Identification” chart. Voters without the necessary ID can be vouched for to get on the voter’s list and vote.

Community Liaison Officers

West Vancouver Sea to Sky Electoral District: A Community Liaison Officer has been hired to help facilitate voting for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Members. She will attend events to ensure the community is informed about voting opportunities. If you need assistance, you can reach her through the Sea to Sky Electoral Office. Phone: 778-572-4610.

North Vancouver Lonsdale Electoral District: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Members seeking voting information or assistance can contact the Electoral Office located at 1395 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver. Phone: 778-572-4255.

Transportation on Voting Day

For transportation to the voting station at the Chief Joe Mathias Elementary School, there is a pick-up route schedule with three times during the day:

  • 10:00 am/ 1:00 pm/ 5:00 pm Seymour IR Mailboxes
  • 10:10 am/ 1:10pm/ 5:10pm Eslha7an Learning Centre
  • 10:15 am/ 1:15 pm/ 5:15 pm Mission Road & 1st Street
  • 10:20 am / 1:20 pm/ 5:20 pm Jacob Road & Jacobs Crescent
  • 10:35 am/1:35 pm/ 5:35 pm Mathias Road & Rivers Drive
  • 10:40 am/ 1:40 pm/ 5:40 pm Ikwikws Road and Skawshen Road

After voting, the driver will drop off along the route and then wait for the next pick-up time.
