The objective of this grant is to provide Nation Members with support to pursue sport and recreation activities. Funding is available for Individual High Performance, Individual Recreation, Team Sponsorship, and Event Sponsorship. Applications are open twice a year and Members are eligible to receive funding once a year.

Applications are reviewed and scored by a review panel of Nation Members that possess a good understanding
of Squamish sport and recreation endeavors. The maximum funding amount is not guaranteed; funding is determined based on the amount of applications received and the information/details provided in your application. The panel will use good judgment to give fair support based on the information provided on the application and is authorized to deny funding to any application that does not meet the criteria.

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) is creating a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan. The Plan will guide planning for parks, recreation facilities and amenities such as playgrounds, sports fields and community gardens for Squamish Nation for the next decade and beyond. It is a strategic tool to ensure we meet the recreation needs of the community.

As we work within our Generational Plan, we achieve a feeling of belonging by increasing our access to sport and recreation for all our People.

Call out for the Community Working Group

To get the planning started we are seeking people to join a Community Working Group (CWG). Members of the Parks and Recreation CWG will be people connected with sports and recreation networks in the North Shore, Squamish Valley and off-reserve communities.

The role of the CWG is to provide input and advice on sports and recreation needs for the Squamish Nation — and will require attending a few meetings and engaging with community. If you are interested in joining, please complete and return the application form. We look forward to lots of community participation, so the plan accurately reflects the sports and recreation interests of community members.
