Impaired driving
Local Police Non-Emergency: If there is an immediate safety risk and a need for police intervention, call 9-1-1. If the incident happened earlier, call your local non-emergency police for investigation.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST liaises with appropriate departments.
Speeding
Local Police Non-Emergency: Unless there is an immediate safety risk, call your local non-emergency police for chronic speeding complaints and ongoing issues.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST promotes speed watch education and awareness at critical locations (e.g., around daycares, schools, Elders centres, youth centres, staff offices, etc.). CST undertakes joint initiatives with local police.
Vehicle accidents
Local Police Non-Emergency: If there is an injury or significant property damage, call 9-1-1. For less severe motor vehicle accidents, report to ICBC.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST assists with traffic control on a needs basis.
Traffic control
Community Safety Team (CST): CST controls traffic at community events (e.g., parades) and/or special occasions (e.g., diversion).
Parking
Community Safety Team (CST): CST informs about being on private property. CST monitors parking conditions in communities. CST educates where people can and cannot park. Regarding long-term parking (e.g., derelict or uninsured vehicles), CST liaises with appropriate departments (e.g., Community Operations) and/or external services.
Break and entry to property
Local Police Non-Emergency: If there is an immediate safety risk and there is a need for police intervention, call 9-1-1. If the event has already happened, call your local non-emergency police for investigation.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST liaises with local police and/or IFNU. CST educates and raises awareness on how to prevent future incidents.
Damage to property (e.g., breaking windows, broken fence, etc.)
Local Police Non-Emergency: If the crime is in progress and there is a need for police intervention, call 9-1-1. If the event has already happened, call your local non-emergency police for investigation.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST liaises with local police and/or IFNU. CST liaises with appropriate departments (e.g., Community Operations). CST educates and raises awareness on how to prevent future incidents.
Theft / robbery
Local Police Non-Emergency: If the crime is in progress and there is a need for police intervention, call 9-1-1. If the event has already happened, call your local non-emergency police for investigation.

Graffiti and vandalism
Local Police Non-Emergency: If the act of graffiti or vandalism is taking place, call 9-1-1. If the event has already happened, call your local non-emergency police for investigation.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST liaises with local police and/or IFNU. If there are no risk or danger, CST reports to the appropriate department (e.g., Community Operations) to take action.
Home and Infrastructure Repairs
When on-reserve homes are affected by flooding, fires, heat, or electrical issues and when infrastructure issues occur (eg. streetlights not working, report potholes).

Community Safety Team (CST): If there are no risks or danger present, CST reports to the appropriate department (e.g., Community Operations or Rights and Title) to take action. CST raises awareness and educates about safety, quality of life, and harm to lands and waters.
Unwanted individuals on property
Local Police Non-Emergency: If there is an individual in a residential dwelling and their presence is not wanted call 9-1-1.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST liaises with local police and/or IFNU. CST reports incidents to the appropriate department (e.g., Lands Department).
Driving into community/walking/biking/hiking/camping/tent encampments/solicitation
Local Police Non-Emergency: If there is suspicious activity, person and/or vehicle taking place, call 9-1-1 for Police to intervene. If the incident or event has already happened, call local police to report and for investigation.
Community Safety Team (CST): Along the lines of our Speed Watch initiative, CST educates and raises awareness that they are on private property and the need for compliance. When needed, CST liaises with appropriate departments (e.g., Community Operations) for clean-up supports.
Drug trafficking or suspicious activity
Local Police Non-Emergency: If there is an immediate safety risk and a need for police intervention, call 9-1-1. Drug trafficking investigations are conducted by the police. Community is strongly encouraged to report suspicious activity to local police.
Community Safety Team (CST): CST liaises with local police and/or IFNU. CST liaises with appropriate departments (e.g., Yúustway Health and Wellness) and/or external services providers. Animal control

Call 604-980-8655 or email communityoperations@squamish.net to report dogs running or other animal concerns. Note: The current Squamish Nation bylaw needs updating so CST can issue violation tickets.
Noise and disturbance

Threatening physical violence or assault, physical assault, fighting, harassment, screaming, verbal fighting
