Seeking Applications for Hiy̓ám̓ Housing Board of Directors

Housing is the top priority for our people. As the cost of living rises in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory, it is crucial to that our people have access to a range of affordable housing options that serve their needs. Hiy̓ám Housing is seeking passionate, forward-thinking applicants to join their Board of Directors and participate in shaping the future of affordable housing for the Squamish Nation.

This call out is to fill four Director seats on the Board (voluntary positions). At least one Director seat must be filled by a Squamish Person. External applicants who feel they align with the Squamish Nation’s housing goals are also encouraged to apply.

The successful candidates will serve a four-year term beginning in November 2024 and ending in November 2028. More information about this opportunity, including time commitment and qualifications, is available in this information package.

Attendance & Participation

Are you able to commit to serving for a four-year term, including attending the following
meetings (with a total time commitment averaging 4-6 hours per month)?

  • Regular board meetings (minimum 6 evening meetings per year, approx. 2 hours in
    duration)
  • Committee meetings (6-12 evening meetings per year, approx. 2 hours in duration)
  • An annual general meeting
  • Cultural awareness training
