Stratford Hall – Indigenous Artists in Residence
Stratford Hall is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 not-for-profit urban school located in East Vancouver on Commercial Drive. As part of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and 94 Calls to Action, specifically number 63 which calls for maintaining a commitment to Aboriginal education issues, we are currently seeking two Indigenous Artists in Residence, one for our Junior School (K – G5) and one for our Senior School (G6 – G12). Our goal for this program will be for our learners to deepen their understanding and appreciation of local Indigenous worldviews, knowledge, history, perspectives and culture.
Salary range: $15,000 – $25,000 annually

FIRST UNITED – Call for Artists
(House Posts)
Lu’ma Native Housing Society and FIRST UNITED have partnered to redevelop the site located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside into a multi-story, purose-built space with four floors or programs and services operated by FIRST UNITED and sevent floors of affordable, below-market native housing operated by Lu’ma.
FIRST UNITED is looking to commission three house posts from a Musqueam, Squamish, or Tsleil-Waututh carver for the new FIRST UNITED redevelopment. The final selected carvers will each create an original House Post to be displayed on the exterior of the building entrance. The artists will work closely with the design team throughout the design and production of the work.
Artist budget: $152, 000

Lu’ma Native Housing Society and FIRST UNITED have partnered to redevelop the site located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside into a multi-story, purose-built space with four floors or programs and services operated by FIRST UNITED and sevent floors of affordable, below-market native housing operated by Lu’ma.
FIRST UNITED is looking to commission Musqueam, Squamish, or Tsleil-Waututh artists to create public art installations at the new FIRST UNITED redevelopment. The final selected artists will each create an original artwork to be displayed on the face of building structure located on Hastings and Gore.
Artist fee: $20,000 (Solar shades) or $23,500 (Panels)
Submission deadline: July 17, 2024
Finch Drive – Call for Artists
Diamond Head Development & Finch Drive are looking for artists in the Sea to Sky to submit a design proposal to be featured on perforated metal as a focal point on the exterior of The Levette condo building on Raven Drive.
Criteria: Must be an artist located in the Sea to Sky (Squamish or Whistler preferred).
Deadline: July 31, 2024
Westminster Pier Park Expansion
The City of New Westminster is looking to commission an artist or artist team from a local Nation to create public art for a new riverfront park. An online information session for this artist call out will be held on July 8, 2024 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Email publicart@newwestcity.ca to register.

Squamish Nation Establishes Historic Partnership with Lime, Pioneering Indigenous Mobility Solutions Globally

The book is intended to be a snapshot – a collection of some of the multi-faceted stories and histories that are held by the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People and a starting point for future conversations.
